Super Science Roadshow

Yesterday we had a visit from the Science Roadshow. The focus of the session was Sound Waves.

Some of the main messages about Sound Waves were when a car is beeping its horn and comes closer to you it squeezes its sound waves together and it makes the noise louder but when is further away the sound waves are spread out and so it’s quieter. Another main message is that dogs can hear up to 45000 sound waves and when you get older the harder it is to hear.

Something I enjoyed the most was when we got to watch 2 different shows because they did lots of different experiments and all of them were really cool and some were funny too. One of them was when they were burning courts glass and then they put it in water and it steamed out. The boy said he needed to hold the glass is his hand with a glove because if he didn’t it would burn him and he was holding it with his bear hand and we thought he would get burn so we started yelling at him but in the end he was just tricking us and corts glass does not burn.

My favorite part of the Science Roadshow was the rotating chair or the metal detector because with the rotating chair you got spun around while holding weights and if you put your hands out you went slower but if you put them to your chest you went faster and for the metal detector they hid metal in a sandbox and you had to find it.

Something I will take away from this visit was that  the granals in baby diapers absorb the most water.
